Hands On with the Global Version of UNDECEMBER, LINE Games’s Visually Stunning Action-RPG
We've played UNDECEMBER and it feels awesome.
UNDECEMBER is a cross-platform slasher with elements from MMORPG games. It appeared last year with a trailer that shows polished graphics for a mobile RPG. Right now, the game is available on mobile and PC worldwide. Publisher LINE Games promises to unseat Diablo Immortal as the current hack-and-slash game of choice.
I've tried UNDECEMBER for a couple of days and spent my time in Traum, the game's war-torn world. My goal was to find the things that make this project so special. The first thing that jumps out is graphics, detailed and sharp both on PC and mobile. I can say that both for character models and the background. It means that UNDECEMBER definitely lives up to the hype.
The second thing I want to mention in UNDECEMBER are the controls. You can use keyboard + mouse layout, touchscreen, or go with the physical controller instead. By the way, you can go with controllers on mobile, too.
UNDECEMBER is a hack-and-slash RPG, and if you’ve ever played a Diablo game, or Darksiders Genesis, or Torchlight II, or any of a vast number of similar titles, you’ll know exactly what to expect.
You’re essentially a one-person killing machine, cutting down endless swarms of enemies and looting their bodies for currency and items.
Story in UNDECEMBER
The gameplay and plot in UNDECEMBER start with a prologue. You are ultra powerful, and can slice any number of enemies. Fast-forward a few years, and you're being transported on a giant creature called a Sand Walker. You've lost most of your power, but you still have a sword and a bow.
As for the classless system and gear, the feature of UNDECEMBER, we've talked about it in the previous article. The main hub where players first meet with each other is called Malo Front. You will help various NPC, including the Blacksmith, the Peddler, the Mystic, and so on. From this point, you can go on quests and kill giant spiders and other monsters, looting their bodies in the process.
Halloween in UNDECEMBER
UNDECEMBER celebrates Halloween from October 26th to November 23rd. This is enough time — almost a month — to try out the game and receive limited items. More information can be found on the official Discord or Website.
It’s too early to say whether its free-to-play system is well-balanced enough to keep you hooked, but there’s a lot of fun to be had in the first couple of hours.
